aaron / aka DJ AD

I have over 18 years experience behind the wheels of steel. In that time I have performed at a gazillion events in Australia and overseas ranging from clubs, pubs, parties, corporate events, bars, festivals, 5 star hotels, birthdays, engagements and, of course, weddings. I’ve decided to trade in the hustle and grind of nightclubs for the warm fuzzy feeling of weddings and other celebrations. There is nothing quite like being part of a loved-up couple’s big day by providing the soundtrack to fuel non-stop dancing.

I bought my first pair of turntables at the age of 18. I began buying vinyl records and practising my craft, starting out by rocking my bedroom, and then the odd house party. In 1999 I entered a competition run by Channel [V] to find Australia’s best amateur DJ. I was selected out of almost 1000 entries to compete in the finals. I won the state title, and came runner up in the country. I was featured on Channel [V] for a good month or two, and I thoroughly enjoyed my 15 minutes of fame. After coming back down to earth, I got stuck into the nuts and bolts of DJing. I picked up and held down long running residencies at the local nightclubs and worked week in and week out supporting local and touring artists as well as weddings, parties, private and corporate functions.

I was living in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, DJing locally and in Sydney. In the years that followed, I played at two Big Day Out festivals, the Sydney Opera House, Sublime, The Establishment, Mandarin Club and a whole bunch of other places around Sydney and Kings Cross as well as street festivals, boat parties, warehouse parties, radio shows, and private functions. Some of the acts I’ve played alongside include Lyrics Born, People Under The Stairs, Regurgitator, Mammal, Cloud Control, Dead Letter Circus, Bob Log III, Hermitude (my old flatmates – sup hermits!), Mr. Thing, The Herd, Muph & Plutonic, Pegz, Thundamentals, Katalyst, Kid Kenobi, MC Shureshock, Frenzie, Nick Toth, Nino Brown, Blue King Brown, Urthboy, Bass Kleph, Def Wish Cast, Resin Dogs, DJ Samrai, Meem, DJ Dexta (Avalanches), DJ MK (Dizzee Rascal) and many more.

I also performed scratches on Paul Mac’s ARIA charting track ‘The Sound of Breaking Up’. In 2009, Mel and I moved to Thailand. We lived in Phuket for almost two years, and I performed at multiple private and corporate functions, nightclubs, weddings, beach bars, Irish Pubs, Latin Nights, birthday parties, as well as having residencies at 5 star hotels including the JW Marriott, and the Hilton Arcadia. We moved back to Australia in mid 2011 and moved to the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

In late 2011 I picked up a regular spot at the Victory Hotel in Brisbane with subsequent residencies at the Jubilee Hotel in the Valley and the Alex Heads Hotel.  I now focus mostly on weddings as this is where my passion lies.

MEL

Behind every good man is a great woman or in this case – a totally awesome woman.  Mel is the wind beneath Aaron’s wings and the boot up his backside.  She’s usually your first point of contact when you send us through an enquiry.  Emailer extraordinaire and organiser of all things (which is no mean feat…see below), Mel is there, behind the scenes, from the moment you enquire with us right up to the day of your wedding.

The Cut a Rugrats

Our darling little monkeys keep us on our toes from morning till night.  Making sure that our office never quite reaches that level of tidiness to which we’re accustomed.  Quite frankly it’s a wonder we manage to get anything done.  They love to dance, hate to nap and we wouldn’t be without them for the world.
